Try playing with only 1 fate card per 500 full points on each side.
Also, feel free to throw out any of the cards you feel are unbalancing.
 The designers state that the main role of these cards is to add
rerolls.

IMHO, in larger games none of the cards are gamebreakers and ours have
always evened out. However, we've definitely considered playing
'reroll cards only' in smaller games.
