Haven't played yet. Remember, the original message was my thoughts
on the game after first getting through it and reading some of the
rules. The rules are specified to not measure each unit to each
other unit. There is one place you measure from each shooter to
the nearest target, then another you measure from each target to
the nearest shooter. I think it probably handles most cases, but
it also opens up a weird case. The rules certainly avoid associating
any particular die in the pile of dice with any particular shooter.

I think they are trying to get rid of one of the things that used
to bog us down in 2nd edition--making sure each shooter could reach
a specific target, not just a group of shooters reaching a group
of targets. Getting rid of fiddly stuff like that is fine with
me. I hope it doesn't mean measuring twice, though.
