We never fought in WWII so I doubt that. There have probably been some
experiments with domestic elks in history (I can't look up any
references now)
but it must have been a lot of problems and they were probably all
killed
in some war abroad. It must have been much easier to stick with horses
which
they had plenty of back then. Horses knows at least their way home which
the one tame elk I've heard of also did when the fence broke and it ran
into the forests.
