I was just thinking what epic 40k needs is rules for the affect of weather
during battles. I know under the terrain rules it has a rule to cover the
affect of sandstorms. But what it needs is rules for other affects such as:
- fogs,
- sudden downfalls of rain - that make the ground boggy (a real pain
for vehicle movement and artillery fire)
- or cause flash floods,
- drought conditions - which mean that it is easier to set off grass and
forest fires. Then, of course, you will have to
invent rules for changes in wind direction,
- Also troops foot slogging it would become
exhausted quicker (I hate to think of the
effect on rough riders)
- High winds - Could make it very difficult for flyers, skimmers and
motor bikes (try riding on motor bike in high winds
, it is deadly!) to operate.
- And for deserts you could use the sand worms from Dune. The worm
would swallow X number of units or need to suffer X number of damage
points before it disappears,
- You could also have a herd of animals that would stampede in
a random direction.
