Only fought a few battles so far.

Strategies - I still haven't developed a real feel for
the game yet, so I'll just stay quiet here.

Army comp - so far I've only tried using well-rounded armies
with a little bit of everything, and it's hasn't been that great.

The daemon detachments have worked out really well - great
assault troops and very durable thanks to the save. I've only used
flamers & flesh hounds with lords of change & bloodthirsters so far;
lesser daemons that don't have jump packs or calvary are too slow to
function properly IMHO. The Lord of Change/Bloodthirsters are a
waste, from what I've seen - they are expensive and die too easily
to AT shots. Masses of flamers/flesh hounds/fiends is cheaper and
better (flamers are better than the other 2, but unfortunately I
only have 5 because they were overpriced points-wise in 2nd edition).

Recently someone emailed me and suggested taking a detachment
of 5 Bloodthirsters. I haven't tried this yet, but it seems kinda
shaky to me (especially if your opponent is expecting it - bring out
the LRs!). While it is cheap, can move 75cm a turn (if you can get
them into CC), and has a combined assault of 50 (!!!), each loss
significantly reduces its effectiveness and BMs can quickly cripple
it. Then again, it might be useful against non-AT armies.

I have to (mostly) agree with Greg in regard to the cultists -
they certainly look useless, and my experience with them hasn't been
too wonderful. OTOH, the only flak unit in the chaos army is in
the cultist list, so you might want to take some just for that
(depending on how useful you think flak is). Also, beastmen are
dirt cheap - you could take 20 beastmen & stick them in chimeras,
and still be under 300 points (whether they would be effective or
not is another question).

It's currently my opinion that unshielded titans suck, so
I would probably stay away from the chaos-specific WEs, barring the
Banelord.

Noise Marines are obvious neccessary if you wish to shoot,
since they're the only heavy weapons troops that chaos gets. Bezerkers,
OTOH, are severely hampered by their lack of jump packs, and are just
outclassed by daemons as far as assault troops go. Recently I've
been thinking that Bezerkers might be useful if you kept them on the
edges of a daemon detachment, protecting it from firefights, but then
you could use normal marines for that anyway.

I'm still not sure if their chaos flyers are worth it. The
Doomwings are ridiculously fragile, and are not that cheap. If you
do take them, take enough to shoot down anything you're intercepting
before it gets to fire. Avoid dogfights with Nightwings. Firelords
look good, but you need to take Doomwings in order to protect them.

My Eye of Terror page is proof I like Chaos, and know how
to type... I'm not sure you should assume much more than that from
it...
