Thanks, I like to figure out a roster and then stick to what's
plausible. The best, of course, is to have unit rosters and histories
and then fight a campaign to expand their histories and deeds. If
you're really nuts you can even keep a real regimental history book for
your various units.

This is true in my experience. Neither of my opponents were into
power-gaming and with each of us having a mixed army, we really had a
lot of fun. It would have been nice to have some other types of
armies, but it didn't detract from the enjoyment of the battles.
