Re: [Epic] E40K:Battle Report - Eldar vs Imperial (very brief)
I (the Eldar) decided to try out the the assault troops with jump packs in
fast moving vehicles idea that someone else was talking about. I think I had:
4 nightwings
2 x 2 Scorpions
1 Warlock Titan
3 x 10 aspects with exarchs and jump packs + 5 wave serpents and a psyker
While he had around
10 land raiders 5 attack bikes 5 bikes
5 thunderhawks
10 leman russ tanks and 10 hellhounds
1 deathstike, 2 siege artillery, 2 hydras
1 assault detachment of marines around 10 stands with a couple of support
weapon batteries in drop pods
1 death company with jump packs around 10 stands in drop pods
Location - Hive world - 2/3rds of the board filled with ash wastes and ruins
Turn 1 - the space marines die
Turn 2 and 3 - mopping up the space marines
Basically in the first turn the scorpions wiped out all of the land raiders
with a withering hail of fire, the warlock titan took out some bikes and
some hell hounds. The majority of the Eldar army was out of range of
shooting. In the assault phase the rest of the land raider/bike detachment
was wiped out. The leman russ/hellhound detachment was also pretty well
wiped out (1 tank left). An orbital barrage took out the deathstrike.
Turn 2 - the Eldar wiped out the Imperial artillery detachment. Only the
normal assault marines come on from reserves, dropping way out of the action
to preserve their lives (and get a couple of objectives). The eldar player
keeps on forgetting to move his war engines in the assault phase.
Turn 3 - the death company comes in (too late) and the thunderhawks still
don't turn up. After the eldar procure some objectives that drive the
marines way below zero the marines capitulate (before the next onslaught of
pulsar fire from the scorpions).
The eldar won every initiative draw for the movement phase. The imperial
player was definitely taken aback by the ferocity of the aspect warriors.
The imperial player never had access to his thunderhawks and only got the
one reserves per turn. The imperial player has yet to win a battle. I will
probably change my army significantly again to keep the Imperial player
guessing.
Sorry - I said I was going to be very brief. I could have summed it up by
saying turn one - the marine force is mortally wounded.
