Wow. This is going to take a lot of getting used to. As a
2nd Ed. Epic Eldar player, I'm in constant fear of actually getting
into CC with the bulk of the force. I'm used to having my entire
force shot out of the CC, since a model on FF (what else do you put
your units on against an Eldar player who has to come to you?) used to
be able to shoot another model attacking it in CC before the CC
started, and any model could shoot a skimmer attacking in CC.

So have the Eldar lost a bit of what guns they had, and become
viable in CC now? (Before, you could design a shooty force that could
match the enemy in guns, but only on turn 1. After a turn of shooting
on each side, you would have taken more casualties) I'm curious what
other people's experiences have been. My old tactics involved hiding
from superior firepower (Tarantulas shoot better, further, more often,
and cheaper (pick any 3) than any of my comparable units, for
instance), and trying to get my elite CC specialists into melee before
they were shot to pieces. Gimmicks such as Wave Serpent shields and
Eldritch storms gave me a chance of surviving long enough to get
there.
Due to lack of players, my E40k tactics are still mostly
theoretical. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to make my
guardians useful. I'd be likely to get most of mine snap-fired or out
of range with their 15cm range. I'm wondering if I'll be able to
flank them with jetbikes to prevent their retreat, but the movement
rules are really odd. Can you move away from the nearest detachment
when you assault move for a firefight? Or do those silly rules about
equidistant circles still apply?
