Actually there was no "official" rule like that in the original game,
although I have encountered your interpretation on several occasions.
Net epic doesn't put any artificial "caps" on how many of a type of card
you can use beyond the standard restrictions for support and special cards.

You should feel chilled! Net epic favored a combined arms approach, so
it behooves you to have AA cover unless your opponent exploits the skies
for his own use!
