Hi all!

As far as I can see, the Space Marine Legion organization is based on
the old Roman Legion.

Squad = ?
Detachment = ?
Company = Century
Chapter = Cohort
Legion = Legion

The leader of the Century (100 men) was a Centurion. He was a Non-
Com, perhaps equal to a Sergent. The highest honor for a Centurian
was to be the leader of the 1st Century, 1st Cohort, 1st Legion.

Officers were made up of the Noble class, but they relied heavily on
the experience and advice of the Centurians. I think they were
called Tribunes. I'm a bit rusty on this stuff, though.

This is interesting to know, at least for me, because it gives some
background, to the fluff.

In Marine Chapters, just as Roman Legions, the First Company is the
best. The Marine Standards are very Roman looking. The Imperium
itself, is very Roman in flavor.

Of course, the Marines no longer use Nobles to lead thier armies.
Instead, they are lead by proven leaders, chosen from within the
Marine ranks.

What are the varius ranks within the marines?

1) Private ?
2) Corporal ?
3) Sergent ?
4) Lieutenant ?
5) Commander/Captain ?
6) Lt. Commander ?
7) Chapter Master ?

Does a Sergent lead a Detachment?
What rank would a Librarian, Medic, Chaplain, etc.. have?

Thanks,

Warprat ;)
