I think they were based on the Roman legions too.
Because in the current military you had 4 man squad which were fire teams
and 4 squads = a platoon and 4 platoons = a company and 4 companies = a
division and 4 divisions = a brigade (might have these reversed). This
applies as well for mechanized and air units also but use different names.
