The Advance Issue

Hi again, Everybody!

After thinking it over, and considering the points raised, I'm going to
suggest my Gaming Group use the following House Rules.

A) Let units, not pinned, fire in the Advance Phase, whether they were
attacked or not.

My reasons:

1) Book keeping. Eliminated stands should be removed at the time of
thier destuction. I don't want to have to remember which stand had been
attacked. This can lead to disagreements.

2) Units on Advance, must survive the Close Combat Phase. As deadly as
Close Combat is, this alone should be reason enough.

3) Suicide attacks, by small numbers of troops, already tie up large
groups of troops via Unit Coherency. This is a heroic action, and
totally fits in with the Warhammer Universe. But denying surviving
Advance units the chance to use thier fire, on top of tying up the move
of the Advancing formation, sounds to me, abusive.

4) My feeling is that nuisance Close Combat attacks by weak units,
against units with strong Close Combat abilities, should not force the
strong units to use thier entire turn defending against the weak ones.
It seems, to me, very in character for a Terminator to swat aside a low
level threat, like a Gretchin, then open up in the Advance Phase on the
Boys. A turn lasts one half hour, to an hour. How long would it take
for Terminators to dispose of a few Getchin.

5) The rules on this are not well defined by Games Workshop. If Peter
can't find them, they don't exist. But for the above reasons, I can't
agree with Peter's interpretation.

B) Change the Shokk Attack gun to fire in the Close Combat Phase.

My reasons:

1) This would make Book Keeping much easier. Resolve the attacks, and
integrate them in with the rest of the Close Combats going on. Then
forget about how many Snotlings attacked each unit.

2) The Snotlings are not in endless supply. Thier attacks should not go
on for a solid hour. Limit thier damage to the Close Combat Phase.
