Shokk attack guns are one of the coolest units the orks have. They have to
be fired on FF. Their main purpose is to disrupt the enemy. If you can stop
the enemy from firing you have achieved your goal with these units. I always
take at least one squad and 2 squads in bigger games backed by a Runthedz.
The last time I used them I double hit (auto destroy) twice in 3 turns, I
killed 3 stands of my own boyz, 1 enemy stand and disrupted the enemy from
firing many times. Pretty good for 100 pts. I opt to fire them at FF targets
(usually infantry hvy units), then I go for armor and finally CC (I try to
fire behind my troops if possible). I think this unit is fine the way it is.
If you play them in the Adv phase or CC phase they won't be as effective.
You are thinking of them as CC enhancer for assaulting troops, but they are
more of a disruptor than anything. Take the enmey's ability to fire and you
improve your chances to move on, gain objectives, take longer to break and
win the game. You can try firing them in the CC or Adv phase but it won't
make them any better.
