My suggestion would be to try either a tan or a brown for the Russian great
coat effect with some lighter highlights for contrast (just lightly
dry-brush the colour on).

Or of you are going for the Arctic Cammo look, try a VERY pale blue spray
with white dry-brush. (Or a white spray with a VERY dilute wash with blue
ink).

Paint the guns black for a real contrast. Besides, real modern rifles are
normally a matt black.
