I agree. A friend of mine purchased a 40K scale Exocrine (made by
Armorcast, more on that later) that's the one that's the 'Nid tank killer,
right? Anyway, I had pretty much already given up on tanks vs. 'Nids
'cause it was too easy to keep moving and shooting (just not cricket,
IYKWIM) until they were all dead. And the Exocrine (or whatever) didn't
really have much in the way of AP weapons. (He hadn't seen the Datafax
before purchasing) He ended up using it as another vehicle after
downloading the Datafaxes for the other vehicles more often than not.
Now, that was cool with me, but if he'd used a coffee can or something to
try it out first, he could have bought what he was really going to use in
the first place...
The Moral? I don't have any...Oh, excuse me...the moral: Substitute like
crazy! Why give GW yer hard earned cash for something you may only use
once? How else can you see if you really want to field an army made up
entirely of bikes, speeders, and Dreadnoughts without sub-ing?
Now: Armorcast. Check out their web site. They make 40K scale versions of
vehicles available only in EPIC scale (fully licensed, of course). I own a
Falcon grav tank, myself, but it's the old style. They used to have the
Tempest grav tank, too. They even have Warhound and Revenant Titans (about
two feet tall; impractical but cool!). Resin casting, pretty high quality.
A must see for 40K players.
