-----> This is a good point - most point systems are designed around
a "typical" or "average" distribution - you can break most point
systems , even well-playtested ones, by doing extreme force
selections. Some place arbitrary outside limits, like GW 's
marine company structure ( though it's not really in the E40K
rules), others use in-service dates, etc. I don't know that 30
termies breaks the system, but you could probably find
sufficient quantities of certain types which would - many people
feel land raiders are underpriced, so extreme #'s might be a problem.
This usually happens when you find some "perfect combo" of units
which cover each other's weaknesses - maybe an all termie & Land Raider
force would do this, as the LR's make up the speed difference and
ranged heavy shots, while the termies cover the assaults and are hard
to kill.
I would just say sure, there is a point system, but if you get too far
from the background (which is what the designers were thinking about
when they made the game) you're going to run into some weirdness, and
it's not neccessarily the game's fault.
