Well the thing is, if they worked like that, they'd jst be plain _better_
than front weapon arcs. They'd cover the front 90 degrees (same as weapons
with the front firing arc), and then they'd cover an extra 90 degrees to
the one side or the other. The whole point of the front firing arc is that
it is more convenient to use, even if it is smaller in coverage area.

Also, part of the fun of messing around with war machines is in trying to
get to one side of them or the other so some of their weapons can't shoot
you.

If you heretics do decide to shift the firing arcs around, I recommend that
you also expand the front firing arc to 180 degrees, instead of 90. Also,
bear in mind that your war engines will have a blind spot of 90 degrees
behind you, where even a lone stand of IG infantry will be able to get a +4
in a firefight against you, as if you were some kind of lame-o
Bloodthirster or something.
