That's a difficult question. The best answer is "it depends....".
What is your preferred fighting style? Making uncrackable lines that the
enemy founder upon, then counterattacking when they're bloodied and
confused? Bold and daring raids deep in the enemy's rear line, putting
them off-balance? A steady advance, switching lines of assault as the
situation dictates?
And who's your enemy? The Green Wave of Orks? The Eldar?
All of these require, for absolutely optimum performance, a different
mix of troop types.
Now sisnce you're a newbie, (welcome, BTW), you may not know what your
preferred style is. In which case, I'd suggest buy a smorgasboard of
troops. A little of each. A Titan, certainly, if only so you know their
limitations and can do exercises to see how to beat 'em. Attack Bikes
are very effective for their points, and look good. Dreadnaughts add a
certain cachet to your army. If you can afford it, 3 Thunderhawks, which
are much more than 3 times as effective as 1. They give you a great deal
of tactical flexibility. But even 1 will open up whole new tactical
possibilities.
Buy at least one box of Marines. I'd go for another box of SM vehicles
too, the Rhinos are handy, and the Land Raiders nearly essential.
OK, that's it for the "All-Marine" army. But a combined SM-IG force is
far nastier to face! By all means get some IG vehicles, artillery
especially.
As I said, a smorgasboard of troops, so you can try different tactical
possibilities.
