[Epic] Specialised Detachments

I've just introduced a WH40K player to Epic and it was interesting to see
how he built his detachments - each one was a 40K army (I know that is
partially the point), mixing, for instance, Warp Spiders, Banshees, Fire
Prisms and Guardians.

I have to admit, I tend to go for more specialised detachments (all
artillery, with defending troopers, all AA guns, all Jet Bikes, or
whatever).

I was just curious to see how everyone else plays. Do you tend to have
single purpose detachments fulfilling specific roles on the battlefield or
do you generally have all-purpose detachments?
