????? If you mean toned down compared to the fluff, then yes - none of
this "one marine is worth dozens of guardsmen" stuff from the novels.
On the other hand, the current 40K and Epic rules do a far, far better
job of portraying the marines as a fighting elite than their predecessors.
The worst offender, IMHO, was SM/TL where the only difference between
the marines and any other infantry was their morale. Now, they've got
better armour, more firepower and superior morale - all in all, they do
at least feel like some kind of elite force. In 40K the transition has been
just as great.
