I believe that's correct (have to be the same det; exception: war
machines). However, I (and possibly Mr. Kilgore) was approaching the
problem from the perspective of providing some shooting phase fire support
before your aspect warriors dive in, and possibly deterring flanking moves.
Softening up the target detachment with the longer range fire could help a
great deal when your close combat units finally get there.
