[Epic] [E40K] Some Questions...

Hi All!

Here's a couple of interesting situations we've come up with in the new
E40K.

MOVEMENT
(Note: An 8x4' table is 244x122cm) Under March orders a detachment of
Assault Marines in Rhinos could, at least as far as I can see in the
rules, March 85cm (30cm tripled, less 5 for unloading) in the Rhinos,
then move a further 55cm (10cm doubled for J/Packs, tripled for marching,
less 5 for unloading), for a total of 140cm! Is this correct? Or are the
+/- 5cm load/unload penalties applied to the unit's SPEED (it says
MOVEMENT in the rulebook), for a total of 120cm (25cmx3+15cmx3)?

It's not a major as Marching troops are vulnerable to return fire, but an
interesting quirk we think.

Here's another one...

FIREFIGHT/CLOSE COMBAT
(Example: A unit with zero (0) Firepower is firefought by a unit with 1
Firepower). The unit with 1 Firepower gets a modifier of +4 to its
Firefight roll (Firepower 4+ times better than the target). Is this
correct? We assume so (its just bad luck to get caught without support).

Here's another interesting one...

SHOOTING/FIREFIGHT
Calculating Firepower values you subtract the number of Blast Markers on
the detachment from the final FP value. If you get to zero (0) or less do
you treat the attack as having a minimum FP of 1 (the lowest rated on the
FP table)? Or do you assume that the detachment has suffered so badly
from supression that their fire is completely ineffective? We opted for
the latter, but are interested in your comments.

And here's an interesting thought...

SUPER-HEAVY WEAPONS
(Note: SHWs can target any unit(s) they like freely. Choose your target
and fire.) (Example: 6 Land Raiders fire AT weapons at a Tyranid Brood,
targeting the Synapse Mind. That's 12 AT shots directed at, say, six
models, totalling 2 shots each. That's a good chance of killing the Hive
Mind Synapse completely.) Just a thought...it seems that SHWs are a
little too selective about targets (I was the SM player in the above
example BTW). Perhaps SHWs should have a target priority as follows:

* SHWs can target any vehicles or war engines they like, otherwise they
target the nearest infantry units as with normal firepower.

This would reflect the fact that infantry advance under whatever cover
they can find and the firepower from a lascannon, for example, would not
be as effective against infantry as against larger targets (vehicles, war
engines).

Just a thought...

Kind regards, JAMES FLOWERS
