The Farseer is an overpriced supreme commander? Certainly they are
overpriced as detatchment commanders, but as supreme commanders they
are a good deal.

Marines pay 35 pts to upgrade a unit to hero and commander
IG pay 32 pts to upgrade a unit to hero and commander
Orks pay 41 pts to upgrade a unit to hero and commander
CSM pay 35 pts to upgrade a unit to hero and commander
Edlar pay 42 pts to upgrade a unit to hero, commander, and psycher

Given that the psycher upgrade is worth 10 pts for all armies (exept Orks
who pay 11 pts), this means Farseers effectively pay 32 pts for the
same upgrades as everyone else, making them one of the better deals of
any of the armies (don't know how daemon princes and dominatrixes
fit in).

It's actually the orks (as usual ;) and the marines who get screwed.
The orks pay more than anyone else for the same upgrades, and the
marines are already stubborn, so a commander doesn't help (though
it helps any IG units in the army).
