[Epic] E40K:Battle Report - Orks'n'Bugs [LONG]
Well here goes my first attempt at a Epic 40k Battle Report, please forgive my ignorance about the Orks as I do not know hardly any of
their troop types (just that the green buggers make up for their lack of accuracy with lots of shots!) My army is a little lop-sided right now
but is limited by what I have been able to scrape together and have painted (But the hive continues to grow...) We did not use any fliers
(my opponent has none yet and mine are not painted) and we did not use morale.

Orks:
Right Flank: Cult of speed, lots of buggies and bikes. There was a lifta-droppa, death-ray and a Weird-Boy tower (nice custom job)
Left Flank: Huge detachment of 8 Stompers, tons of heavy weapons and lots of gretchin. No special weapons (did not need them :)
TOTAL: 1000pts
Fate Cards: I drew 2, both Psychic Blast Level 2, He drew 1, Psychic Blast Level 3
Turn 1:
Movement - Orks win draw
Orks:
Cult of Speed moves normally straight at my left flank.
Stomper unit goes on overwatch without movement.
Tyranids:
I put the flank detachments on assault orders and moved them directly forwards hiding in cover.
Center detachment moves on normal orders towards the cult of speed to support left flank.
Shooting - Orks win draw
Orks:
Cult of speed manages 3 firepower against my left flank killing a termegant, 1 blast maker.
Tyranids:
Dactylis gets 5FP off at the Cult and manages to roll a 1-2-3, no effect
Assault - Orks win draw (again :)
Orks:
None
Tyranids
I continue the assault of both flanks.
Rally:
Orks:

Tyranids:
I get to remove the blast marker from the left flank detachment.
Turn 2:
Movement - Orks win draw (I see a pattern forming here...)
Orks:
Cult again moves forwards normal for better shots
Stompers and friends remain on overwatch unmoving
(The uglies can't see uz if we don't move...)
Tyranids:
Flanks continue the assault (we could still smell them :)
Center moves again towards the left flank normal move
Shooting - Orks win draw
Orks:
The lifta-droppa from the Cult kills one of the Exocrines
The death-ray rolls a 1 (hehehehe)
The rest of the unit manages to kill the all of the termegants and put 2 more blast
markers on left detachment.
Tyranids:
3 Exocrines have range to the lifta-dropa and smash it.
Dactylis kills 2 buggies.
Assault - Tyranids win draw (Wow - even after the Orks put back their markers!)
Tyranids:
Continue forwards on the left flank, just out of charge range.
Right flank advances past the last cover
Orks:
None
Rally
Orks:
Remove all blast markers
Tyranids:
Remove all blast markers
Turn 3:
Movement - Tyranids win draw (And blindly march forwards)
Tyranids:
Left flanks advances just out of snap-fire range getting ready for the kill
Right flank advances slightly to use the last of the cover while getting into charge range
Orks:
Cult of Speed begins a withdrawl from the left flank moving normally
Stomper detachment remains on overwatch (Shh! Don't move)
Shooting - Orks win draw (OUCH!)
Orks:
Stomper detachment fires at right flank with enough firepower to roll 32dice - WOW!
Needless to say, the sky went dark and the right flank crumbled. After the dust and
bio-bits cleared, one Hive Tyrant remained.
Cult of Speed managed to kill all of the hormagants and one unit of genestealers and place
3 blast markers on the left flank.
Tyranids:
First I play a psychic blast 2 on the Weird-Boy tower, which the Orks counter, so I promply
play my second blast on it and the tower makes its save (boo!)
All five exocrine fire at the Weird-Boy tower with 2 hits and the tower failed one save (yay!)
The dactylis killed 2 bikes and put on two blast markers. The left flank shanked its few shots
wide (FOUR - Ouch, golfing with spore-mines :)
Assault - Tyranids win draw
Tyranids:
Lonely Hive Tyrant on left flank move 1mm towards the enemy and towards the center of the board
where all the buildings were! (The bikes looked easier to kill :)
Left flank assaults the Cult - completely destroying everything they touched and routed them off without
a single death. Placed 7 more blast markers on the Cult.
Orks:
Stompers let off a big "WAAAGG" cheer and laugh.
Cult of speed runs towards far left corner of the board.
Rally
Orks:
Cult manages to remove 0 blast markers (way to go!)
Tyranids:
All Tyranid units remove all blast makers (I needed those 6's for saves!!)
Turn 4:
Movement - Orks win draw
Orks:
Stomper unit marches towards my side of my right flank.
Cult of speed runs away some more
Tyranids:
Right flank (a Hive Tyrant!) assaults towards the center buildings
Left flank assaults towards cult
Center unit moves normally for position on the cult
Shooting - Orks win draw
Orks:
The Cult managed 6 firepower but since they had 9BMs it did not do them much good.
Tyranids:
The Exocrines shattered 3 battlewagons while the Dactylis must have fallen asleep again (all misses)
Several Hive Tyrants and Warriors manage to put two more blast markers on.
Assault - Tyranids win draw
Tyranids:
Left flank assaults the Cult in the most humiliating Tyranid HtH phase ever!
I have 2 Hive Tyrants, 2 stands of Warriors and 2 stands of genestealers by this point,
I hurl the Orks back (they need 5+ to hit, I need 2+) I am in B2B contact with 6 of them, I kill
five, but the Orks not only manage to roll 4 sixes but 2 fives as well. To top this off, I fail my
saves!!!! My entire detachment was destroyed.

Cult decides to leave the table (actually I did not give them much choice)

We called it a game at this point. While I had destroyed the Cult, I did not have enough left to even touch the stomper unit and I would
have to travel the board corner-to-corner to get there. While I lost, it was a very fun game. I hope you enjoyed the this episode of the
Happy Bugs :) One thing I forgot to mention was the Lictors who did a wonderful job of soaking up the 6's, but those darn Orks seemed to
have more 6's than I had Lictors. Thanks for listening.
