In order to have uniformity I'd phrase the rule as thus:

Infantry bails out on a 4+, roll for each stand carried. This roll is
modified by the save modifier. So weapons with a modifier of 4 or more
means
instant toast to the vehicle and transported troops.

Units with fixed saves get a 4+ bail out save that is not modified.

Hows that sound?
