Probably the same reason video games always measure points in multiples of
100 or more, and wind up with total scores in the millions -- it makes it
sound more impressive. Who'd want to show up at a game with a 25 point army?

There's no particular reason other than "impressiveness factor" to have
point values be in 25 or 50 point increments. However, there's no particular
reason not to have that way, either.
