Are you talking about Epic 40k or SM/TL? As far
as Epic 40k goes, I'm still new to the game and haven't
experimented enough to give any real help. I could say,
"Chaos arty is good, demons are great and khorne bezerkers
aren't," but that sort of thing is fairly obvious from
just looking at the army list.

Tyranids in Epic 40k are ideally suited to fast
(very fast) close combat. A bunch of large tyranid close
combat swarms is very tough to stop, and once they reach
you, you've got problems. And remember - biovores may
have a short range, but you can stick them in drop pods
or load them in transports.
